From eco resort soul searchers in Ubud, to shopaholics in Seminyak, to wave chasers heading to chillax in Uluwatu - depending on who you ask for the best places to go, Bali can mean a totally different trip. So that you don't have to wade through a sea of recommendations, we've turned to someone in the know. Who better to give us insider knowledge on the land of Bintangs and Bliss Bowls than seasoned Bali local Georgina 'George' Mansell? We took the app for a spin to get her trusted tips for some not-so-obvious hangouts.
George’s family moved to ‘The Island of the Gods’ for more than a decade when she was only two years old, instilling an early connection with the Balinese culture that would eventually draw her back. “I grew up alongside the village kids, in eternal sunshine”, she remembers, telling us how it’s no surprise a part of Bali remained in her heart. George has returned to set up her business Wiluna Co, creating handcrafted silver jewellery sourced from Bali and nearby islands. Since finding ‘hidden gems’ in the Indo paradise is a trick of the trade for our mate George, it's over to her for the places she rates...

"Head over to Nusa Ceningan/Lembongan and stay at Le Pirate for a super relaxing couple of days, or Bingin's 'Sun Surf Stay'. Both of these are really affordable, clean, comfortable, offer stunning views and are tucked away with plenty to explore."

"Venturing north will take you to the most underrated part of the island. Explore waterfalls and the thrill of whitewater rafting, or keep heading all the way north to Permuturan where the beaches are black from volcanic rock. Northern Bali is lesser known to tourists but is such a beautiful part of the island with incredible marine animal sanctuaries."
Bali's North West Coast
"Sourcing crystals for Wiluna has also taken me to neighbouring islands. I’m lucky to have spent time on Flores*, where my brother lives. At Komodo you’ll find white sands, some of the best diving spots in the world, and of course the big lizards!"

*Boutiq note: George’s family is actually setting up a resort on Flores, The Seraya, which looks like a Boutiq-approved place in the making. One we will be watching for sure.
"The island and its culture are so beautiful, especially when you get off the beaten track a little and away from the traffic. You’ll definitely be rewarded for going the extra distance to find some of these places…"
You can discover and save George's places on Boutiq, the app that allows you to recommend your favourite places, sharing them with your friends and followers.
