5 Top Eats in Kraków - by Boutiq Member Agatha Zarzycki

Kraków has become an international city that combines tradition and trendiness amid its historic and artistic roots. Our Travel Stories Contributor, Agatha Zarzycki, has shared the places to visit for the ultimate 24 hours in her home away from home- all ready for you on the brand new (and free) Boutiq App...

Eat: Brunch at Mr. Pancake

"This laid-back American-style diner in the Old Town serves up deliciously sinful drinks, burgers and (of course) pancakes well worth the calories."

Recommendation: Four Twenty – S’mores fluffy pancakes with Nutella and BBQ Fluff topped with caramel popcorn and Fruity Pebbles ice-cream.

Do: Unwind at Czajownia

"Located in the former Jewish Quarter, this hookah bar and tea house welcomes you with its calm atmosphere and extensive tea selection from around the world. Sip tea in their main area, or if you would like to enjoy shisha as well, you can sit on floor cushions in one of two cosier rooms."

Recommendation: Sahlep – a traditional Turkish drink made with milk, cinnamon, vanilla and orchid powder.

Eat: Snack Break at Zapiekanki Królewskie

"One of the hole-in-the-wall eateries around the rotunda at Plac Nowy (the New Square), the long line at Zapiekanki Królewskie is worth the wait. The rumor it serves the best zapiekanki, open-faced baguette sandwiches with various toppings and sauces, in town may very well be true."

Recommendation: The “Wypas” zapiekanka – salami, bacon, pickled cucumber, paprika and roasted onion.

Eat: Dinner at Kuchnia U Babci Maliny

"This quirky cellar restaurant has two locations close to the Main Square and boasts hearty traditional Polish cuisine just like a babcia (grandma) would cook. The rusty kitschy interior at the Szpitalna Street location will take you back in time, and live piano music often adds to the charm."

Recommendation: Kotlet de ‘Volaille – breaded chicken stuffed with ham, cheese and paprika – with potatoes.

Drink: Piwnica Pod Baranami

"A five minute walk from Babci Maliny, this cozy cellar bar and cabaret opened in 1956. Its eccentric décor reflects a hub for writers, performers, musicians and other creatives. Their drink menu includes beer, cider, wine, cocktails, hot chocolate, coffee and tea."

Recommendation: Mulled honey vodka.
